Hiking
Ukkohalla and Paljakka’s wide-ranging hiking route systems offer
superb provisions for outdoor enjoyment and nature walks. The longest
alternatives are the UKK route and the almost 60-kilometre long Köngäs
tour with its magnificent natural attractions. Fascinating routes
amongst the area’s terrains can also be found for shorter one-day treks.
Along the UKK route, Komulanköngäs – a large waterfall in the wilds –
and the cabins of Pyssylampi Pond as well as Pirunkirkko – special rock
formations with river canyons – can be found together with Kainuu’s
hilly scenery, including evergreen spruce forests and open swamps as far
as the eye can see.
In Ukkohalla, Halla’s Akka Hike event is arranged
during the period of wild autumn colours. This is a good chance to join
the fascinating world of nature hiking. Day-trekking in the colourful
environs can be followed in the evening by visiting the sauna, enjoying
excellent food and listening to live music in good company.
