Cable Wakeboard European Championships

In Kainuu’s Ukkohalla, 30 July–2 August 2009, the International Water Ski Federation (IWSF) arranged the integrated Cable Wakeboard European Championships on the world’s northernmost track of its kind. These were the first European championships of this splendid water sport ever to be held in Finland. The competition  hosts Europe’s top water skiers from over thirteen countries, all showing their skills. Obtaining the championships was a great gesture of respect to Ukkohalla, since the track itself has been in use only since summer 2008.

Cable wakeboard is an impressive type of sport. The intentions are to make it into an official Olympic sport. Various ramps and rails have been built for the cable wakeboard track, where a variety of optional tricks can be performed. The judges evaluate each competitor’s achievements in accordance with their impressiveness and level of skill required.
